Our Small Branch

I've already told some of you about our small branch here in Andrews for church. It is truly an eye-opener to be here in the "Bible Belt" of the US and be surrounded by all kinds of churches, yet, the LDS church in this little city of 10,000 has only about 50 members. Sometimes it makes for some interesting meetings.
It is summertime, so vacations are expected. This week, we almost felt like they were having a special church meeting just for us. Our total attendance in the chapel was 22! Since our family was 6 of those, we were almost 1/3 of the people there (we were definitely OVER 1/3 of the congregation.) Those 22 people included 2 full-time missionaries, 2 visiting speakers from the Stake, 1 visitor, 1 Stake visitor who wasn't speaking, and an older couple from the Stake who is assigned to our branch. So, not counting Stake people and my family of 6, there were only 7 other people there.
Allie and Aimee combined classes, since they were the only primary children attending...I was in the Nursery with Aidan, the only under 3 child, and Alex's class consisted of his teacher and the Stake president!)
It's really too bad that so many people were gone. The speakers were truly inspired and delivered perfect messages about removing stumbling blocks and having more meaningful prayer. Maybe they were speaking directly to me because every word spoken, was like 10 to my mind and I felt so spiritually fed and blessed to be there...my cup runneth over...and not just because I didn't have to share with very many.

Wow! That's just crazy to think about! I'm glad you had such an awesome experience even though the numbers were few...

Love you!

I can't imagine going to church with that few of members. Think of what it would have been like without your family. I'm sure the speakers were grateful you were there.

WOW I can't imagine having only 50 members in the ENTIRE city. I am still the choirster in primary and we have 100 kids just in our primary alone. That is truly small and intimate. I love it so much when I leave church feeling so spiritually fed. Sounds like the speakers really were speaking just to you, well ya know since no one else was there :)
