When I signed up for a blog, I hoped that I would be able to hop on and take a break from those crazy moments to jot down some quiet thoughts. However, it has been over a month and still no posts...hmmm. I started to wonder if I really had any quiet thoughts, so I suppose it will mostly be crazy thoughts and crazy moments--at least for now.
Today I experienced one of those feeling that I had really only read about. I awoke feeling less sleepy, but definitely not well rested. (Aidan just got a runny/stuffy nose last night and woke about every hour.) So, when morning came, at first I felt sort of hazy, but then came the book moment--I had the horrible panic feeling that I was supposed to speak in church ! Not just that I was supposed to, but that I had forgotten all week, and with Dustin out of town and an extra child spending the night, I didn't have time to write anything. (My mind does NOT usually play these games with me...I'm usually much more in control of it.) I tried to pull my thoughts together and really concentrate on the conversations and thoughts of the past week. "When did I actually speak to someone that asked me to speak?" "Why didn't I think about studying and pooling earlier?" I couldn't really form a complete thought...and the "memories" of conversations seemed so vague, but not exactly dream-like.
So, the only thing I could think to do was just recycle. I hopped on the computer and tried to print out my message from a few months ago--just in case! Of course it wasn't that easy. (Yesterday, while photocopying the clue sheets for Clue Jr--who knew...some clue jr sheets are just not sold seperately for relacements...are you listening Parker Brother's--, I discovered that our printer is apparently very low on black ink, so I was going to have to change the type to blue. ) The only computer up and running and attached to the printer is the computer that I have yet to install an official copy of "Word" onto. So, I had a trial version and couldn't edit at all...okay no big deal. I turned on the other computer and tried find the paper, sent it to the printer and ... nothing happened. Of course, the printer wasn't on the network, or maybe that computer isn't. After closing a few pop-ups, I logged onto hotmail and tried to send an edited copy over to the more "connected" computer. Finally I was able to open it and "Control P" it (since apparently the "print" feature doesn't work in the trial version of word.) I printed it out in blue ink and proceeded to go wake the children (for the 3rd time).
I still wasn't able to shake the totally weird feeling. I didn't feel like I was really supposed to speak, but I didn't feel like I was NOT supposed to either. I also had an anxious morning that just proceeded with me feeling like I was forgetting BIG DEAL sorts of things.
The happy ending is that everyone was able to get out the door fully clothed, diaper bag packed, scriptures in hand (with "just-in-case message") and we arrived at the church with no problem. I did not speak in church; in fact the air conditioning was broken, so we sweat it out for the first hour and cancelled the other meeting...call us weak, but Texas is Texas, and essentials are essentials. However, I still don't feel like I'm fully awake and I may have to get up in an hour and go through it all again. LOL
